The Santavenere Estate is located at the foot of the wonderful town of Montepulciano in Tuscany.
When the Triacca family took over the Santavenere estate in 1990, together with its farmland and woodland, the vineyard accounted for only 6 of the 80 hectares. The vineyard has expanded considerably over the years. The new decagonal cellar, with typical architectural features, is in harmony with its surroundings. An underground passage connects the new building to the pre-existing one. The offices and tasting room with its point of sale are open all year round. The estate may be visited without an appointment.
The Santavenere Estate has been welcomed into the
Toscana Wine Architecture Circuit of 25 wineries designed by famous world-renowned architects. The Montepulciano appellation extends across the Val di Chiana. The majority of the vineyards lie on gentle slopes at altitudes between 250 and 600 masl. Here, near the Umbrian border, the climate is hotter than in northern Tuscany.
The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is classified DOCG, as is the Chianti Classico, and it's obtained from the Sangiovese grape but exhibits different characteristics.
